unrecognized file system

Postby thefalcon » Mon Jun 27, 2005 10:17 pm

I have been using Redhat 9 linux for a while now and never
had any trouble mounting the cd-rom or dvd.Recently on
start up when redhat is mountung the system,it comes to
the line that says checking for hardware,it will say Failed
and unrecognized file system.I have gone to fstab and the
cdrom shows its there along with the file system iso9660.
This is what is was using to mount it.
mount -t iso9660 /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom.Any help would
be greatly appreciated.

The fstab looks fine to me. Have you tried using the command at a shell to manually mount a CD? If it fails you could then try doing the same as root and seeing if that works. Perhaps that would give a few clues as to what is going on.
