dbus-daemon error and slow display in Kubuntu Karmic.

Postby hyweljones » Thu Mar 18, 2010 6:07 pm

Hello all.

Lately I've noticed that my display manager has started running very slowly. The time between entering username and password and getting to my desktop is nearly 2 mminutes. Have had a few crashes too.

I can't pinpoint to when it started but it may have co-incided with a upgrade.

This appears in the authentication log:-

Rejected send message, 1 matched rules; type="method_call", sender=":1.21" (uid=1000 pid=1864 comm="kdeinit4: plasma-desktop [kdeinit]") interface="org.freedesktop.DBus.Introspectable" member="Introspect" error name="(unset)" requested_reply=0 destination=":1.34" (uid=1000 pid=2006 comm="kdeinit4: kio_trash [kdeinit] trash local:/tmp/kso"))

Have seen similar bugs reported but not identical to this.
Any ideas?

Cheers.

OK, solved the dbus error problem and excess cpu usage by removing the indicator applet from the menu bar.
The errors haven't appeared in the log since

Have speeded up the login in time a little too. However, not as quick as it once was.
