Sound Volume

Postby baron » Fri Sep 01, 2006 5:46 pm

I have Suse 10.1, Unbuntu and Win98se on my box. Using either linux versions
the volume has to be quite high for mp3, cd music or dvd films. If I forget and switch to Win98 without adjusting the sound it is blasting. Indeed its about a quarter on the speaker dial in Win98 and threequarters in Linux for the same volume.

I have a SIS SI7012 card (AC97 codex)

I've found this too, with all distros I think, if possible make use of any audio 'gain' controls within your linux apps. That way you can leave the hardware level the same for both lin+win.
I think, therefore I compile
