Cool hardware projects?

Was just thinking about when in school we used to use an acorn computer to control stuff like coloured lightboxes.

Are there any "kits" available where I can program a bit of hardware in linux?

Sorry if I am being vague!

I've not used them myself, but Arduino kits are popular. We've covered them in LXF before.

Hi jamie_tickner...

As Mike has said Arduino is a great starting point...

Search this site for arduino and there is some stuff I`ve
done to get it working in a Linux Shell and STANDARD
Python for Linux.

I`ve also got it talking to Windows and Classic AMIGAs
in various languages...

There is also this kit to build, a USB experiment board... ... &id=351346

I have this too, but not applied it to Linux as yet...
