can not boot into Ubuntu now!

Postby Narendra » Thu May 04, 2017 8:32 pm

Hello,
I need help.
I dual boot Ubuntu with windows 10.
updated Windows 10 and restarted the computer to get into Ubuntu but I can't. It says something about logfiles and that i am in emergency mode and to reboot i should press 'systemctl reboot' but it is the same all over.
Please advise.

That's hardly helpful. If you want a useful response, post the actual message.

So is that screenshot the same as you see? Remember, you can see your computer, we cannot, all we know is what you tells us. Try running

Code: Select all
journalctl -xb -p err

The -p err should cut down on the output, hopefully making it easier to find the problem.

Thank you very much for your reply.
Yes, its the same screenshot I see on the computer.
I have tried your suggestions but they don't work.
I have backed up the ubuntu till the day it crashed and think i will have to reinstall the system. But I dot know what has caused this and can happen again.
Thank you for your help.
Regards.

What does "don't work" mean? The journalctl command extracts information from the system logs that may help you diagnose the cause of your problem, it will not magically fix anything.

Thank you very much for your reply and help.
But i have reinstalled the ubuntu. Could not wait for the repairs.
I do not know what caused the error, it may happen again.
Thank you again.
