Hi all linux users,
I got an Acer Aspire One with linpus and 120 GB hd, not the model with the flash drive, and 512 Mb ram, however, after tweaking the linpus, which in fact is based on fedora 8 I realised that it was not handy as I am a linux user I needed another distribution that I would enable me to make updates, install latest software, etc. I tried the Linux4one and Fedora 10, however it has to be tweaked in order to work properly. Then, I thought to try Mandriva 2009, and bingo!!! it installed all the required drivers including the atheros wireless, ath5k. without any need for further tweaking.
While installing Mandriva 2009 I would recommend to create 2 partitions, a root and a swap one, or use the original partitions, and format as ext2, and opt for Gnome desktop.
Any one trying to find an alternative to the linpus, I would recommend to install Mandriva 2009, as everything works smoothly. |

Oh yes the announcement ... Walmart UK have dropped their in store price to £ 150, if you can find one, and a customer service agent to get you one out of the lockup! |
