Debian 3.1 sound

Postby acraigon » Sun Jul 31, 2005 9:02 am

I have just installed debian 3.1 form the cover disc and very nice it is too. Everything works including the gnome sound. When I try to use the music player with my sound files I get the following message - /dev/dsp in use by another program. :?: Anyone know what I should do to get the music player working?

Try using ESD (eSound) and see what results you get

I can't remember how, but I had this problem with my old sound card, and changed my alsa configuration to use software mixing, this allowed more than one soundsystem to be used.
