Hello

I'm interested to hear of your experiences with open solaris - I have only just downloaded it and wondered if anyone here uses it, has used it or wouldn't use it with a barge pole...

I'm going to be installing soon and wonder if anyone in the linux world has any words of wisdom to pass on! :)

I use Solaris 10 off and on...
Only prob I ever had is, it throws my LCD outta whack.
It's fun and good for a change of pace....
pay close attention when installing and setting up your internet & email.
personally, I like it. It's a bit different but not that hard to get a hang of.

BTW... install on a separate HD as it does not play nice with Linux installs as they share the same I.D.'s
Set it up as the second HD, and then make changes to your bootloader respectively by adding a new stanza in the menu list

title linux
kernel (hd0,0)

title failsafe, etc.
kernel (hd0,0)

title Solaris
root (hd1,0)
chainloader +1

Depending on what the Solaris HD comes up as.... on your machine
