The Open Source Specialist Group (OSSG) will be holding an interactive event on Tuesday 24th July 2007 over a proposal to create a British Computer Society (BCS) Open Source Licence. This promises to be a lively event where all views (for, against, or neutral) will be welcome from the floor following a short introductory presentation.
Venue - BCS Central London Offices, First Floor, The Davidson Building, 5 Southampton Street, London WC2E 7HA
Time - 1800 hours for 1830 start.
Free buffet and refreshments including wine.

wow, it won't be too long before the licenses out number the linux distributions.
Good luck with the event and to anyone who's going.
But do we really need another OSS license. Open standards surely mean that. Most of these types are gpl, bsd or mozilla for a reason.
And before someone says it, of course If I went a long then I'd know the reasons, so I should STFU.. _________________ I think, therefore I compile |

I may be wrong Nordle, but have the licenses you mentioned not been written largely with US laws in mind? Obviously they have been made to apply to as muhc of the rest of the world as well. But a BCS license could be tailored to English Law, I am sure that under some jurisdiction the GPL must leave a gaping hole. Whether or not it has been discovered yet is something else. _________________ Need a New Signature |
