|
|
As some of you may have read, I am reviving my Linux HTPC project, now that I can build it with Ubuntu and MythTV.
The specs are :
ASRock AM2NF6G-VSTA Micro ATX mobo, am2 3500+, 1 gig ddr2 ram,etc.
This Mobo is "Vista-ready" (even though There were No Vista drivers available when I bought it, and XP was a pain to install on it).
Ubuntu 7.04 64 installed perfectly, onboard ide, sound, nic, video all running , even with "wobbly Windows"
The most unusual part of the design is the case, shown at the top of this page.
It will be running by remote control, and a 10 metre DVI cable to a widescreen wall-mounted monitor.
And yes, it is cast iron. At least it won't be easy to steal, it is a 2 man lift empty.
The only names I can think of are "Heavy Metal" and "Pumping Iron"

wow, what a case. Is it really a case by design, or genuinely a modified stove?
I'm assuming the later. How do you access the drives, or does it not have dvd drive etc.
It deserves an award for something, the only case I saw that came vaguely close was a beer keg.
Names:
lmce
inferno
led zeplin / robert / plant
Dave, ie Dave Murray from Iron Maiden _________________ I think, therefore I compile |

Wouldn't Mandriva cooker be more appropriate? _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |

| Or if you work exclusively in Boolean logic, you could call it the Iron OR. |

Yes it is a genuine cast iron and brass stove that we bought in Cornwall. It has never been used to burn wood or coal, as our local area is a smokeless zone. It has up until now been an ornament with a couple of "candleflame" bulbs simulating a real fire | Quote: |

I am still working on the internal shell, I am photographing it as I go, and documenting it too. I will probably post it on my website.
The top hinges up and back, and the 2 doors at the front drop down.
I may need to use a laptop DVD drive, or perhaps modify the ash drawer. | Quote: |

I was inspired by the mini-itx site.
