i used m$ media player 10 for the first time last night to look at a dvd and it couldn't play it and said i had to go to another site and pay for a codec to play it Shocked

what's all that about, as you know i love uncle bills distro as much as mandriva but that's taking the p##s!!!!!!!!!
i have to say though that the dvd was from a friend at work who had "backed up a copy" of it
still having to pay Shocked

You get the codec when you install something like WinDVD or PowerDVD... which often comes free when you buy a DVD drive or a new PC.

And once you have one of those, why would you want to use Media Mangler to play DVDs ?

i haven't got either that's why i was using it, when he "backed it up" he took the files and copied them seperately rather than making an image of the disc and as it wouldn't work in his player and casualty or some rubbish was being watched on our tv i had no other option Crying or Very sad
