Hi there,
I'm really sorry if this subject has come up recently; only been using Linux for two days! Unsuprisingly, my Winmodem is not recognised by any distro I have tried. I plan to install either fedora, or probably suse; would I be correct in thinking that these distros will recognize any external usb modem, or are they more picky than that?
Thanks very much in advance for any advice... |

Some USB modems are winmodems too. For guaranteed compatibility, use a serial modem (assuming your computer has a serial port). _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |

| SUSE does have good support for some types of internal Winmodems. I have used Connexant devices in a couple of PCs for other people without problems, for example. |
