OS/4

Postby Nuke » Sun Oct 13, 2013 7:25 pm

LXF 177, P96 describes the OS/4 distro, which is on the cover disc.

As a former OS/2 user, is this naming deliberate or co-incidence? And what happenened to OS/3?

Their web site seems to make no mention of OS/2 (I didn't search every page). As with many project web sites, they explain very little about what they are; their home page is mostly project news for people already on board.

It's deliberate, but nothing to do with OS/2, more like OS4.

Realise nothing to do with OS/2, but I wondered if there was some joke there I was missing, like Linus calling his latest kernel "Linux for Workgroups".

Their web site uses both "OS/4" and "OS4". They need to make their minds up.

Not a joke, more an homage. Note the boing ball in the images, it's Amiga OS4 they are referring to.
