Does anyone know why Ubuntu 5.10 is on the LXF74 CD but not the DVD?

I was going to try it out, but I am a DVD subsriber, so I have to wait until my CDs arrive from Ubuntu direct Sad.

For anyone else who has the same 'problem', you can order the Ubuntu 5.10 for free from the Ubuntu website

Because it wouldn't fit on with OpenSuse - and OpenSuse wouldn't fit on the cover CDs, perhaps? What better excuse could there be for buying two copies of the magazine? Wink

I'm not buying that! I'm sure they could have managed it on a 4Gig DVD.

Still, I think your theory is probably correct Smile

OTOH, it's probably because SuSE comes with the INCLUDE_KITHEN_SINK option by default!

Nothing a double-sided DVD couldn't fix. though.

Kitchen sinks are very useful if you have some washing-up to do Smile

SUSE has to include kitchensync, it's part of KDE Smile

You've got to be having a laff!! Shocked

Someone should have told me that there is a program that will do the dishes! Hmmm, maybe there's a chance I can convince the wife to switch from Windows.

This is proof that Linux developers are hopeless at naming programs! Laughing

Yep, as Rhakios said, there wasn't enough room for it. (Well, we could've just about squeezed it on with OpenSUSE, but then there would've been no room for any other software like HotPicks). Maybe we'll have Ubuntu on a future DVD if there's space Smile

It's a reasonable, if somewhat quirky name. It was originally written to sync with the Sharp Zaurus, but it was written to use plugins so it could be made to sync with everything, hence kitchen sync Smile

As one can see, this has already been pointed out.

Only by using a double-sided DVD, which is too expensive for us to do regularly Smile

yeah - it doesn't really matter anyway, OpenSUSE is a very good coverdisc indeed, and +cost=BAD.

Is there any possibility that LXF might offer Kubuntu instead of Ubuntu in a future disk? It would be nice to see them getting some extra coverage.
