In the X101 instructions it says press ESC to recover that is "BOOT from USB drive"

When my meego stopped working(grey screen) i tried to install Puppy.By pressing ESC F2 & pressing the power button i got the Boot screen.Next time i got it from F2 never from ESC

Now i cant get the boot screen at all??Meego boots again and im useing it now. Smile But its not for a netbook

I want tto use puppy from a USB drive or eventually from the micro sd card that lives in the X101 SD card reader

How can i get the BOOT screen reliably

OK, I'm not 100% sure what you mean by "boot screen", but if you mean the "boot device selection screen" .. you're right, the documentation says hit AND HOLD Esc immediately after turning on the PC.

If you are trying to access the BIOS (to change the boot order) .. replace Esc with F2.

There is no need to hit the power button after F2

[EDIT]

Though the docs (and apparently the splash screen) says hit F2 to enter the BIOS .. according to people on this thread:
http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1866143.html
you also have to hold the Fn key when you hit F2.

The link didnt help only shows me that there is a problem.

I dont know what you mean by quote

"OK, I'm not 100% sure what you mean by "boot screen", but if you mean the "boot device selection screen"

Is Boot screen something quite different to" boot device selection screen'

i know what the instructions say as i said in the OP

WHAT I DONT KNOW IS HOW TO SHOW THE boot device selection screen' or for short Boot screen Rolling Eyes

And how to run another distro

The X101 will be my last asus product NOTHING ive had from asus has worked as it should and selling a netbook with Xandros and now Meego instead for a suitable disto is a disgrace for such a manufacturer

Just in case anyone reads this thread with the same problem ive found the best way to get the Boot choice is to press both ESC & F2 after three or four attempts the white screen arrives

Then let your finger off the ESC leave it on F2 and with luck the BOOT option will display,if not you will see Meego which will start

After many tries i take the battery out then when i get Megoo starting pull the power plug press F2 esc again and try again eventually the boot option shows

ASUS is rubbish Buy toshiba they work

And the mouse on Toshiba is useable which this one on Asus isnt

Worse the Asus ZENBOOK has an even worse mouse than the X101 and the Zenbook costs over $1000
