OnLive has just launched in the UK.

For those who don't know, it's a 'cloud' based gaming service whereby the game runs remotely, on the OnLive servers, and is streamed as video to your PC (or tablet or TV with the 'micro-console' they sell).

Meaning of course that pretty much any PC capable of playing video (and with a reasonable internet connection) can play any of the games in their catalogue at full settings.

But what's far more interesting is that it seems to put Linux on an equal footing (with Windows) in gaming, for a change. There's no Linux client yet (though there is apparently one on the way) but given that all the client does is receive streaming video and send back control data it apparently runs fine on Wine.

So yeah, just wondering what people think of this - any game-enjoyers round here?

I won't be trying it myself as the proprietary-ness and locked-down-ness are offputting. It is the ultimate form of DRM.
