booting coverdisc distro from DVD

Postby jameswillson » Thu Sep 01, 2011 12:51 pm

desperately trying to replace the factory-installed Xandros/Debian 4.0, which is horrendous & isnt supported anymore, but my EeePC1000 simply refuses to boot from either USB (I made a bootable drive with Unetbootin - it ignored it), or DVD, even though I've changed the boot order in the setup menu. (tried to use Fedora12 from an old copy of LXF, Feb2010)

can someone please help???

Even though you have set boot priority in the BIOS, you may still need to press a key at boot to get the USB to boot, as I do with my Novatech X10 (I press F11). Have a good look through all your paperwork and booklets for the netbook; you may find something similar.
Xubuntu 12.04 user, and loving it!
