I'm kicking myself.
I only recently started listening to podcasts. Mostly Linux Outlaws and Tuxradar. Why am I kicking myself? Because I didn't bother to listen to them before now! So I went back to TR S01E01 and started listening.
They're full of cool things I never knew about. I loved Paul's mish mash free music cut from everyone's previous podcasts. I love Flamix and my latest install - Virtual RMS. I have now learned that my PC is 0.2% non-free. Good job it didn't spot my Win7 partition!
Keep it up guys _________________ AMD PHENOM II X6, 14 GB DDR3, 500 GB hd, 1GB nVidia card, running Linux Mint 14 KDE / Win 7. Damn thing keeps breaking.

Cool, glad you like them. Must be a like a time machine, going back to those early ones... What were we talking about? KDE 1 running on the shiny new Pentium III chip?

I think you were discussing whether it was the year of Linux on the desktop _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |

Currently I'm listening to Graham's 1 minute on Gru... sorry, I mean Pulse Audio.
Actually there have been some quite funny moments where predictions were made that were shown to be quite wrong in the long run (things like predictions involving Novell, KDE, Ubuntu, Netbook remix, Nokia etc.) I loved the dare of returning to Ubuntu 4.04 and the one about using Bing / MS online services for as long as possible. _________________ AMD PHENOM II X6, 14 GB DDR3, 500 GB hd, 1GB nVidia card, running Linux Mint 14 KDE / Win 7. | It's the only Linux podcast I listen to regularly. I listen to others from time to time, but Tuxradar is informative, lighthearted and fun. |

Yeah, I'm enjoying them. You should also try Linux Outlaws if you like the fun style of TuxRadar. I started listening to LO after they got the top spot in the Linux podcast roundup a few issues back. _________________ AMD PHENOM II X6, 14 GB DDR3, 500 GB hd, 1GB nVidia card, running Linux Mint 14 KDE / Win 7. Most of the TR podcasts I've listened to recently have had mention of a lot of flaming of the TR team in them. A lot of snotty comments along the lines of "stop being negative" or "the music sucks" or "stop laughing" or whatever. That honks me off right royally.
It's one thing to say "I disagree with you" and another to attack the style and substance of the podcast. I like the humour. I like the quirky style. I like that Andrew never does the challenges. Or that Paul always has 50+ discoveries of the week / fortnight. Or that Grub never seems to get covered (I'm only up to ep 22 of season 2, so if it gets covered later, I apologise in advance). Or that KDE gets slated every podcast (and I still use it).
If you don't like it, stop listening to it! It's not like it's paid for by you! The mag is paid for by readers. The pdfs are paid for by subs. The podcasts are made in free time by people who do the challenges in their free time. If you don't like it, don't listen.
And if after all that, you still feel the need to flame, don't call yourself Anonymous Penguin. Have the balls to give your real name / forum username.
OK rant over. _________________ AMD PHENOM II X6, 14 GB DDR3, 500 GB hd, 1GB nVidia card, running Linux Mint 14 KDE / Win 7. Damn thing keeps breaking.

Well it took about 2 weeks, but I finally got through them all.
Thanks to Jonathan and Mike for the shoutout this week.
I listened to it today while smashing up a shed.
Actually it was my shed. It needed tearing up and burning to make room for the kids things in the garden (isn't that always the case?)
There have been some great moments, but I still can't top Paul's tuxradar remix. Is there any chance we'll see this sort of thing again? _________________ AMD PHENOM II X6, 14 GB DDR3, 500 GB hd, 1GB nVidia card, running Linux Mint 14 KDE / Win 7. Damn thing keeps breaking.
