|
|
I need to buy a TV but I want it to double as an occasional computer monitor for my living room storage.
Although I'm more of an Argos man, in M&S yesterday I noticed a TV which had a DVI connection.
I don't want a big screen. Please, does anyone have any recommendations of what will work under Linux? Or any alternatives like a separate converter?
Thank you kindly,
Douglas |

My LG MWxxxWA have entirely satisfied my requirements.
These are part of an outdated series, which later appeared with digital tuners for TV (rather than analogue, as I have).
They have DVI, VGA and other connectors.
I'm not sure what the recent equivalents are. _________________ Derek |

I use a 22" Samsung Syncmaster monitor, with a Dual tuner DVBTV in my living room PC. I run mythbuntu and use MythTV as a PVR.
But any TV/monitor should work OK.
DVI and HDMI are supported by many Video cards and TVs _________________ The sig between the asterisks is so cool that only REALLY COOL people can even see it!

I've got a Panasonic 37" tv, with HDMI and VGA inputs. I have only tried the HDMI with my laptop and Ubuntu 10.04. Ubuntu reports back that the screen is 32" so looks a mess.
No idea if it's an easy fix, not look into it yet. _________________

I've got a LG M237WD. HDMI/DVI/VGA etc.
fantastic picture 1920x1080. but also includes other features that I found useful like 24Hz support for blu-ray movies.
sound can be a bit weak, but I find this is always the case with tv speakers. |

A related but different question...
Anyone know any credible PCMCIA/Cardbus adapter with HDMI output? This is to go into an old Dell Inspiron 1501 to be a mythtv front-end in my living room, so (obviously?) needs plausible linux drivers. Or is there a better way to do it? (I've googled a few USB -> HDMI adapters, but I sense they are unlikely to work with Linux) |
