Hehe thanks! Those who have downloaded it as a test please download it again, 10mins before we uploaded the .iso OH decided to make a last minute change.... This unfortunately this included forgetting to add a 'fi' to the end of the script Very Happy

If you download the iso again it will now working fine!

I'll try it out for you when i get a min at the weekend. I am my schools honorary admin, so er, yer..., i'm your target audience? Interesting use of moodle for the documentation!

Good point, I think I will write up a document for testers.

Basically apart from any bugs we would like to know(on single server setup):

Ease of installation, (both the main pclinuxos and when setting up a server) - did you get stuck at any point? Not know an answer to a question? Was it to slow? Confusing? Did you have to change anything? etc etc - (as this is meant to be used by both non-techie up to network managers).

Once installed: Was it easy to get to the web management? Could you get to the web management from a different computer? Is the web management easy to navigate?

Try adding users, deleting them, bulk adding etc etc try and use all the forms that are available, are all the forms easy to understand? (though I am working on documentation we are trying to make the web interface forms obvious so you dont have to hunt around to find what they do). Do any of the forms need changing or re wording?

Try adding an xp machine to the domain. Does it join? Are the profiles ok? Can you login? Do you get your shares? try saving work to the shares is this easy way of doing things? Try accessing all the web based items (moodle, email etc) is that easy to do?

These are just a few things I can think of, you don't have to do all of them, but you can see we are pretty happy with the stability of karoshi(not that it is without bugs or hiccups) but because we have now used the system for so long, things we find easy or sub-consciously work around may be a major pain for other users!

So I think I am kinda looking for a review type testing. Maybe the guys at LXF could give it a go Wink

I will just add though i only have a comp with the specs for the 'testing' machine quoted on the website, and may not be able to do all the domain stuff, but i will give it a go.

I think the 'halt' etc comes from pclinuxos we don't touch that per se at all, but it maybe something we should do.

Also when the cd first boots it should automatcally start the installation. This can take a while though on slow machines, which is probably why you clicked on the installation button and then it warned you! Not sure what we can do about that except remove the installation button but that might be even more confusing.

Is it the wording? Should they be labelled something else? So Administrator instead of Network Manager?

Web management:-
Yes, that is what is looks like (bar the three different servers). I think administrator would be a better name. Not too sure what the other titles are for, changing passwords? Do you really want the server and uptime, etc displayed to users trying to change passwords??

Once i got into the network manager page the layout was quite good, with the drop down menus, etc. Haven't really explored that yet...

Installation:
I wondered why a million install wizards came up! May be don't have it open automatically at the start. Then it is more like a live cd.
