Ok, so I got a new super whizzy PC. Ever since then, my brother has been badgering me to try out some Windows games on it to show what it's capable of.

So he lent me Bioshock and Portal. Both my cup 'o' tea.

Normally I keep gameplay to a PS2 (or sometimes PS1, DS, Gamecube or on rare occasions the Wii). I don't like mouse control on games. I prefer a controller.

So I installed Bioshock... and got "enter passcode or apply for one". So I ditched that. My brother neglected to include it.

Next I installed Portal. Or tried to. Steam registered a duplicate on my account and the game serial number. So I ditched that too.

That's the reason I do linux. None of this serial number crap. It seriously p's me off.

Well I use steam for all my games on windows.

When it works its great, but sometimes it goes do lally and takes about 1-2hrs to wake up and sort it out.

I've got a free copy of portal on my account at the moment which I could give you if you want. (I brought portal 2 pre release which included a free copy of portal)

Cool. Cheers. That might solve the issue.

Do you know if it works on a virtualised win7 install? If so, it'll save me booting into windows to run it.

I haven't tried it virtualised but I would guess it wouldn't as the graphics would be too rubbish, unless there is a way to let a virtual machine have direct access to your graphics card.

Bioshock 2 was far too addictive.

Oh, and I never got steam working properly...

Never mind. I've got Dead Space to play next... Very Happy

Can you play Bioshock (1 or 2) on single player (I'm not bothered about online multiplayer options) through virtualbox?

If so, how?
