I have an mp3 player. For the last 5 years my wife has also had mp3 players. She knows how I feel about iPods, but in the end just bought one anyway behind my back. Rolling Eyes Anyway, that's another story.

The point is that I left her to maintain it (she uses Vista, despite my prods in a more acceptable direction), so she uses iTunes to manage it.

The problem is that my daughter is now at mp3 player age. She had an iTeddy, then a cheap, but robust mp3 player. My wife decided to bow to (on her part not especially great) pressure to get her an iPod of her very own.

Now comes the problem. Because of the stupid DRM nature of these pieces of crap, she can't seem to put music on both of them. It seems to be one or the other.

I could stand back and gloat at how my sansa clip mp3 player is functioning very well thankyou very much, but I think that 7 weeks is long enough for that. Now I'm faced with an iPod she can't use. I am not going to reprogram the thing (as some sites seem to want). I want to find a way that my wife can do it all. An easy way. Something I can tell her about and then step back and refuse to help anymore. Like I do with her vista box or her iPod. Laughing

Any pointers, please?

Huh? I've put loads of non-DRMed MP3s onto my iPod before without any problems. And AIUI, all music on the iTunes store is now iTunes Plus as well, so non-DRM. Not sure how that factors into it?

I know that Rhythmbox can manage music on an iPod or iOS device; its reliability was pretty flaky last time I tried though.

Have you tried creating separate accounts on the Vista PC?

There are a few other options available as explained on the Apple web site - How to use multiple iPods, iPads, or iPhones with one computer.

I, personally, have tried nothing whatsoever! Laughing Nor do I intend to. I'll pass these bits on to my wife to deal with though. Cheers.

And if she can't figure it out, I'll swap the ipod for something sensible.
