I wonder if the BSD kernel version will prove popular.
Perhaps LXF will do an article comparing the two kernel versions.
Perhaps someone else already has. I might get around to FWSEing it later.

I've run installations of both Debian KDE and the default Debian under VMWare and, though it grieves me say say so, the KDE version is a trial to work with, while the Gnome version seems smooth and efficient.

For some reason I had expected an easy upgrade path from Lenny.
But my Update Manager has given up trying and the HowTo on the web site is as long and complicated as the Lord of the Rings.
Is there an easier/safer way than just installing Squeeze over Lenny?

Just crunched my Windows box with the Gnome based version this WE.
So far so good but only just getting to grips with it.
My PCLinuxOS 2009 installs are slick and Debian has some way to go to
compete so far. It is quite quick though.
But they are both different desktops.
I don`t think I have come across anything close to being as stable as
PCLinuxOS 2009.

Oh, but you just have 
I have Debian running on my fileserver (24/7) for quite a few years now, and at one time I noticed an uptime of over a year...  Yes, I updated the machine straight away and on seriously shorter intervals since However, there's a new technique I've read about, to be implemented into the kernel: it allows boot-less kernel updates, so uptimes of several years would be feasible.  Dunno when it'll be available though...
PS: if the Debian dev's say it's stable, you'd need to nuke it before it'll budge  |

Do you mean Ksplice? It's already around, has been for a while.
Of course, it will be a few more decades before it is included in Debian stable.
