urm, not me. Well I just didn't expect any of that to happen. Come on, computers are dumb. _________________

People are dumber... Your proof: the OP
Anyway, mine didn't start too well. Or rather, last year ended with a big bang that caused damage to my house and my neighbours below. Some ***** threw a fireworks bomb inside the communal stairs at about 11 PM... Fortunately it was "only" a window each (above the door) and I had enough spare wood to cover up the holes for the time being, but it did ruin my evening.... Oh well, we're covered by the insurance, so that's a relief...
Happy New Year, even for the fish (and against my better judgement ).... |

Well, the last one happened, although it was a few years later _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |

What people forget was the mammoth amount of work that went into updating applications and programs to use a 4 digit year format instead of the 2 digit format. Some applications still have problems if only 2 digit year formats are used - have a look at your spreadsheet programs. A 2 digit year format means that you are only working from 1930 - 2029 by default, so date of birth before January 1930 means that you haven't been born yet. We have about 27 years to fix a similar problem for *nix operating systems (Tue Jan 19 03:14:07 2038 actually). See The Year 2038 Bug for more information - hopefully it will be called The Friday the 13th bug |
