Hi goons...

This is an odd request about the pull down menu in the
"address" bar....

An example two addresses in this pull down menu:-

Google
http://www.google.co.uk/

Linux Format | The #1 source for Linux
http://www.linuxformat.com/

How do I get rid of the........

"Google"
"Linux Format | The #1 source for Linux"

........And other similar useless information for other
addresses?

Right clicking on individual entries in Firefox drop-down menus offers me a Delete option. Is this not available?

Or do you need Bookmarks>Organise bookmarks which has a Delete option?

Or do need History>Show all history which allows you to delete individual entries?

Thanks for replying...

I think you misread my post, I still want the addresses NOT
the cryptic crap that goes with them. I know what the
addresses are and don`t have to be told by Firefox hence
my post...

In essence I don`t want to delete any address just the cryptic
crap above each one...

I suspect the answer is change to Chrome - or possibly Chromium which doesn't show any of this.

Konqueror does but as a second column, not below the url; so your eye is not caught by them

How very silly that you don't think to use the "edit" option in organising bookmarks just click the link and the "name" option holds that guff,edit it and Bob's your aunty's husband Wink

I am certain there is an add-on that can do that for firefox, which I have used in the past, but I can't find it now; perhaps it is not compatible with FF 3.6.*

I'd already had a search in about:config using "address" and "location" as search terms without turning up anything useful, which is why I hadn't bothered to mention it.

Thinking about it again, I have used "url" as a search term. This turns up some things that look as though they might do something, but if the default string associated with a value is "+", for example, what are the alternatives and what do they do? Ho hum. I think the add-on looks a much simpler way of doing things, I wonder exactly what they change to achieve the effect?

In the Bookmarks menu choose "Organise Bookmarks" - the resulting box shows the tree structure on the left of all your bookmarks. When you select a bookmark folder on the left, each bookmark is displayed on the top right panel. Select a bookmark there and then edit in the dialogue boxes below - names and addresses can be edited.
