Just noticed that Amazon are advertising this (pre-order) for £35.99 (£4.00 off the RRP). This seems very cheap, in view of the fact they are charging £58.49 for 9.3 (or £41.39 for the Upgrade version of same). Is there going to be just the one version of 10, ie not full and upgrade versions as has been the case previously?
I've only just got round to trying 9.3, which I installed yesterday from the DVD which came with the current Linux Magazine (£5.99 - slight difference in price from Amazon; as far as I can tell the only things missing are "support" and manuals). The first thing that foxed me, when I was trying to mount a floppy disk, was this subfs business. Apparently you don't mount removable media any more - you just change to the relevant directory in /media. No doubt I shall be finding lots of other little thing which are different from 9.2. |

I did my amazon pre-order a couple of nights ago when Novell announced they were accepting pre-orders for 10. If Novell's dumb ordering system had actually let me specify a different delivery address (as it said it would) then I would have ordered direct, but there we go
Edit: There's quite a difference between LM's SuSE 9.3 and the official install disc, nearly 2000 packages in all, the gods only know what they left out (or anyone who want to compare the list of packages line-by-line). _________________ Bye, Rhakios |

Good heavens! Well, there certainly seems plenty to keep me happy in the interim before I get SuSE 10, which I think I definitely will now, seeing it is so cheap. I must get my pre-order in soon.
Later: Just been across to Amazon's site and done so !

Rhakios - I see what you mean about the Suse ordering system!!
Wasn't gonna bother with 10 (just stick with 9.3) but thought what the hell. |

Marrea - You are right.
I might not get 10.1 instead and just wait for 10.2 - but maybe not! |

Rhakios - Strangely enough I was was looking at the roadmap today.
Might have to change my order order from 10.0 to 10.2! It is always a game of catch up with Linux (which I love) I remember by the time 9.3 got to the shops (with kde 3.4) kde 3.4.1 had been released. |
