|
|
The South African Astronomical Observatory is running a competition to name a recently discovered asteroid; the name is being selected by public vote from a short list of names, one of which is Ubuntu. I think it would be cool to have an asteroid named after a Linux distro, especially appropriate when its founder is an astronaut, so go vote online.
The website is http://www.nameourasteroid.org.za/ and voting is open until 31 January 2010.

There was a comma at the end of the URL, which I've removed (another reason to use url tags).
Is the asteroid brown? _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |

And the original meaning has little to do with a barren lump of rock millions of miles from the nearest human being... which brings us back to the asteroid being brown as the most compelling argument for this _________________ Unix is user-friendly. Let's not be so harsh -- it might be colonised! See this NASA photo for instance:
