|
|
Hi,
I've been using linux at home and then work for about 6 years, now. I have recently finished doing a great linux sys admin job in London, to move with my employer to Wiltshire.
My question is, linux is everywhere these days, which is great, so where are all the vacancies? They all seem to be in London. Having commuted 6 hours a day for the last 3 years, is there nothing West of London, preferably Wilts/ Glos/ Avon+ Somerset?
My new Wiltshire job is a pen pushing one, and I need to get back to linux, before I go mad.
Any help/ advice welcomed.
Cheers,
Chris. |

Depends how much you want to get paid, look for a network manager job in a school and you can convince them easily to move to Linux servers (just talk about the money savings) problem is you will get between £20,000 to £40,000 (depending on area, london being the most)but it may be a choice to look at... _________________ My knowledge comes with no warranty...........

£20-40K sounds great. Maybe i'm being to narrow mindid, not wanting to work with Windoze servers. Maybe I should view them as potential linux boxes. So, where are these jobs. If anybody sees one (South West/ Thames Valley), then let me know.
Cheers,
Chris. |

We were looking for another Linux sys admin to replace me (I am now head of Linux development), but he starts on Tuesday. Our sister company is looking for a web developer though. _________________ Andrew Hutchings, Linux Jedi

That's a shame. Sounds interesting. Thanks for the heads-up. Unfortunately, I don't have any web developing experience.
Thanks,
Chris. |
