Listen to the podcasts on the latest LXF DVD...
Except the, (scenario)....
....only machine up and running ATM is this quad core Windows
Vista machine as we are in the middle of major internal building
work here; so my Linux machine is off for the time being...
Well I put the DVD into the drive and soon the dialogue box
came up asking me which program to associate it with...
Well Windwoes Media Player of course you moron...
"Windows does not recognise the .OGG format."
Surprise, surprise, so f**k it I will dump this shite and get out
my dual core/boot notebook and listen to the podcasts on an
OS that does recognise .OGG format...
Talk about effing arrogance, MacroShite do it again... :-( _________________ 73...

Or you could grab this:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/mediaxw/
Apparently it's a plugin to enable Ogg Vorbis support (amongst other formats) in Windows Media Player.
Still, I hope you enjoy the podcasts!

Never heard of this Windows distro. Version 7 already, what's it like? And which kernel version does it have? |

I believe VLC is also available for Windows, I use it to listen to oggs on my Mac (although you can get a plugin for iTunes/QuickTime). _________________ Bye, Rhakios |

Righto Mike et al...
It`s up`n`runnin`,,, :)
What an effing palaver... :/
Went and fetched the .msi version and it wouldn`t install.
It goes through all of the usual sh1t and looks as tho`
it is strutting its stuff but... no go...
Even right clicking the icon and changing access rights
makes f**k all difference...
So the only way I found to do it was from the
CMD.EXE command prompt; (NOT the COMMAND.COM
one that still exists in Vista)...
Here is the procedure for others...
1) Start -> Programs -> Accessories...
2) RIGHT click on the "Command Prompt" icon...
3) Select "Run as administrator".
4) A prompt will appear to ask for confirmation.
5) After confirmation the "Command Prompt" will open...
6) Change the directory to where the .msi installer is...
(Mine is in C:\Zipfiles so CD\Zipfiles<RETURN/ENTER> was enough.)
7) Now type in the full filename to install...
8) DRIVE:\Path\To\Installer\MediaXW-0.0.6.msi<RETURN/ENTER>
(NOTE this is at the time of writing and will be different in
the future.)
9) And follow the installer as normal.
10) If required close down the Command Prompt when complete...
11) Run Windows Media Player and check to see if
the .OGG file works...
A dialog box will probably appear the first time so WMP
can get the plugin...
WOOHOO, I can now hear the crappy startup music... ;oD
Thanks a lot Mike.... _________________ 73...

The change of species is surely an unexpected side-effect of installing VLC? _________________ Bye, Rhakios |

So using VLC makes you grow long ears and teeth, and sprout fur and a little fluffy tail!
Whatever next?
Anbody know if using WMP makes you grow long legs and blue feathers? _________________ The sig between the asterisks is so cool that only REALLY COOL people can even see it!
