The Complete Linux Handbook

Not sure if this is in the right section, but here goes nothing.

Does anyone remember this publication (it was produced sometime in 2003 by the makers of Linux Format); it very nearly got me into Linux when it came out.

On checking the CD-rom that came with it there is a folder named Goodies, in which is another folder named Uplink. I believe this folder contains the game Uplink and was wondering if it's possible to install it on my newly installed Mandriva 2005LE?

I have been led to believe that almost all Linux software will run under almost all flavours of Linux. If not I can always boot from the CD.

In Utopia maybe, but this is the real world, so welcome to Dependecy Hell...

I can't help you with finding the game, either. Sorry. :D

It may run, provided it doesn't require older versions of system libraries. You've got nothing to lose, unpack the archive and see if it works.
