This is my first time installing linux of any kind. I have know knowledge whatsoever of linux, but trying it out. I bought a magazine with a three disk set (disk A, disk B, and disk C) of Full Distro Mandriva Linux Limited Edition 2005. I did an install and everything went fine. When it was done. I click reboot. It runs through some things and comes up with green ok's for everything and then reboots again. It keeps rebooting over and over. I need help please.

What are the last lines of text you see before it reboots?

Is it possible that for some bizarre reason that run level 6 (system reboot) has been selected as the default run level?

If so the only way to fix it would be to boot with a rescue disc of some sort, mount the partition containing /etc and edit inittab to something more reasonable, such as 3 or 5.

Hmm, but then you might expect to see a "entering run level 6 , rebooting" message. Weird.
