Hi all,

Just thought I'd help anyone interested in using Beagle with KDE. Gnome automatically starts the Beagle daemon - "beagled" - and enables the desktop search tool. This is explained in LXF September 2005 but offers no help. It is a really simple quick fix that works with other applications as well. Copy the following code into your favourite editor and save as "beagle.sh" in /home/username/.kde/Autostart (Note the "." hidden directory).

Code:
#!/bin/bash
beagled
best

Every time you login Beagle is enabled and available using the system tray or F12. It is an absolutely fantastic search tool even though it is only in "aplha" stage at this time.

I have an ADSL connection so I also have the recent LXF script to set the Astropix of the Day from NASA as the desktop background in my Autostart folder.

Doesn't work for me using SuSe 9.3. Doing a search gives the error:
"The query for help failed.
The likely cause is that the beagle daemon isn't running.
Click to start the Beagle daemon..."

Clicking doesn't help.

I'm running Suse 9.3 Pro and got the same error when I first started out trying Beagle. I think the only problem is giving the daemon some time to fully index the system after starting beagled and best.
