Vega Strike 0.5.1 r1 release

Hi guy's as loki1950 i am an admin and newbie Shepard at http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/ typo when i registered here
Well after a busy summer we have a beta of a new release 0.5 with binaries available for Windows all flavors
and Mac OSX.Sorry no Linux binaries but compiling from our subversion repository is not that difficult.

What's new:

Shader Support
*VS now supports normal maps
*(@all artists: yet another chance to contribute ;-) -- most units still need normal maps)

Integrated Multiplayer Support
*Deathmatch
*Missions, money, and upgrades

Reimplemented physics system
*Support for simultaneous simulation at variable fidelity of all ships present in a system
*Support for large numbers of active vessels per system

New and revised content
*New and restatted units, weapons, and upgrades
*New music, models, and factional textures
*Civilian traffic

Miscellaneous improvements
*Improved automation of in-system travel (simple autopilot mode)
*Pre-compressed(DXT) texture support
*Integrated sound server

We have a release installer available for all the platforms we support http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/getfiles there is also a package available in the Debian repositories

Vegastrike 0.5 is now also available as a FreeBSD ports.

We seem to be getting a critical mass of contributions :D that and the mods are moving there data sets to the new version of the engine so more bug reports for faster feedback :lol: Shader support is also moving along.

We have a new version to release 0.5.1.r1 final

Changes include:



Fixed: MIP loading on rectangular textures
Fixed: tumbling capships while docking
Newer planet textures
Better more compatible shaders for Mesa (Intel DRI mostly)
Issues #3487109, #2531359, #2808586, #2812869, #2879873, #2929602 fixed


This is 0.5.1 final and marks the end of the 0.5.1 milestone. From now on, new features will be developed in trunk and 0.5.1 will only receive maintenance releases (bugfixes) until 0.5.2 is ready. Happy times ;)
