.... as Rhakios downloads boat loads of p0rn while trying to decide if he can stomach a Mandrive splashscreen, or maybe just wait for Suse 9.3
Sorry Rhakios, couldn't resist that one |

Currently downloading at 14KB/s on a connection capable of over 300KB/s _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |

I have oodles of boxes, but I only allow the one a direct connection to the internet through my router, the rest go through the hardware firewall, and I'm not opening ports on that
I would have thought the spanking new LXF server could make a much greater contribution to disseminating Mandriva than I ever could _________________ Bye, Rhakios |

There are much more relaible ways of getting porn, or so I'm told
As a long time user of Mandrake, I feel obliged to give the new Mandriva release a whirl on one of my machines, but only SuSE 9.3 will be going on this 64-bit box when I get my hands on it.

All BitTorrent clients allow you to restrict the upload bandwidth. Restricting it to around 80% of the maximum usually give decent responsiveness with a good share ratio. Leaving it unlimited will slow down the downloads, it's a bad idea. _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |

ahhh, thanks, this is the first time we have used bit-torrent, for mdk10.1 we asked for a ftp download and got it that way. I'll have a look when I get home, saying that it will probably be finished by then!

Sorry, guys I cut my Linux teeth on Mandrake, but I just can't get excited about it any more.
If they rename it Womandriva on the basis that, statiscally, it crashes less than other versions, then I might be impressed enough to give it another try! _________________

One of the problems with the name that no one has yet mentioned in here is the question of pronunciation. It's bad enough that people say Linux incorrectly, now they can get the distro wrong too (jumping on the Deeebian/Sousa bandwagon? ).
Mand-thingy have already felt the need to indicate the correct pronunciation on their web site, it's Mandr-ee-va, not Mandr-eye-va.
I'll stick with Jentooo thank you very much _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |

I'm with Jentooo, tooo !!
I also use Pee See Leenucks Oh Ess. Not to mention Win-Doh'z.
It's just that, either way, Mandrivel sounds horrible to my ears, and at least Womandriva gets your attention! _________________
