To be honest, I don't know what your wiki adds to the ever increasing number of Linux websites. It doesn't seem to have a specific purpose, or target audience. I'd advise you to rethink your wiki and it's purpose.

damn everyones a critic..

the reason i set up this website is a little project to help me pass the endless hours of being out of work.. as there is so much you can do in terms of looking for work. i set it up to be a wiki cos i couldnt think how to do the layout.. all i want is help with setting it up not just plain criticism which will just put me off and break another dream and something to do.

Take these comments as constructive criticism. As DM says, you need a direction, and why not a linux wiki wiki? There are plenty of sites out there with howto's so far out of date it's really not funny.
Why not have wiki index to say who's on-the-ball and who's installing Red Hat 5?

Needless to say, it will have to be updated frequently.

Linux started out as a computer science student's project, not a hobby.

As others have said, work out what you want to do, then ask for help. How can people help you do want you want when you don't know what it is?

No, everything hasn't been done. Lots has, but not all.

If you're out of work for any length of time, how about pillaging TLDP for their howto's, and instead of just churning them out in a set format, like they have, translate them into english, instead of the "Technoblurb" that they seem to insist in writing.

IMO that would _REALLY_ be of use to linux n00bs. If they're in intelligable English then there'd be little problem for "johnny foreigner" running them through a translator of some sort!

regards

John

If it's connected locally via USB it's simple, if you're trying to do it over a network connection, forget it.

USB1.1 port or USB2? My experience with an HP Photosmart 2575 is that it won't work at all over a USB1.x connection, but works just fine coonected to a USB2 port.
When you plug the device in, you should run dmesg in a terminal to verify the device has been identified correctly before moving on to configuration.
