via sound card drivers

Postby peters@powerspeed.co.zw » Wed Jun 29, 2005 12:50 pm

I'm running Knoppix live CD 3.7. I'm running it from the CD not the Hard drive. There is no sound and the sound card setup tells me that the card is not supported. The sound Card is on-board, the motherboard is a pcchips m955g with a via chipset. Is there anyway to get drivers for the card. I'm new to Linux.
I have searched google but i cannot find anything

Thanks For Any Help

You should also change your usename to something other than your email address, unless you particularly like spam.

In Knoppix, snap open a terminal (icon like a TV, bottom left on taskbar) and type

lspci

which should enable you to identify the chipset. You can then use google or the knoppix or kanotix forums to see if a later version of Knoppix or Kanotix supports it.
