I see the guy that wrote/maintained DVD decrypter (Windows) has been threatend with legal action over his program for making DVD backups, and therefor has been forced to abandon the program:

http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=23746

Ok, its a windows program... but I'm in the middle of writing a similar app for linux under KDE. Although, my version uses libdvdcss and dvdread for copying the DVD, and my GUI is basically just a frontend (at the moment) for those two libraries.
Although I havent released any files/code yet, as it's not quite up and running, should I be worried about bigwigs banging down my door, and carting me off up the street screaming, or as my code will be open and free, should things be ok...??
I thought it was legal to make backups of DVDs that you own as long as they're for your own personal use (ie make a backup to use in the car etc)

Advice anyone...??
