Open Office 2 beta install

Postby paevans » Wed Jun 01, 2005 9:58 pm

Hi All,

I have tried to install OO 2 from the LXFDVD67 dvd on a Mandriva LE2005 installation (which is otherwise working well) to be confronted with the message: Failed Dependencies: Suse release is needed by openofficeorg-suse-menus-1.9.79-1

Having a copy of Suse 9.2 handy, I installed that, tried installing oo2 again and this time got back: Failed Dependencies: suse-release conflicts with openofficeorg-redhat-menus-1.9.79-1

Anybody any ideas ?

All ideas gratefully received

Thanks

By the looks of it the openofficeorg-suse-menus-1.9.79-1 and openofficeorg-redhat-menus-1.9.79-1 are packages for SuSE and Redhat respectively. I would think you only need one of those installed, the SuSE one if you are running SuSE and the Redhat one if you are running Redhat or Mandriva (a redhat derived distro). They are probably the packages that add the entries to your KDE/Gnome menus.

Hope this helps clear things up,

Dave.
The question is, what is a mahnamahna?

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your advice, makes sense but any idea where to find the appropriate packages, excuse my ignorance.

Cheers,

Phillip

Copy all but the two menus RPMs to your hard disk, then install from there. The menus packages aren't needed, it just means you'll need to add menu entries to your KDE/GNOME menu manually.
