LXF182 code samples [Solved]

Postby timl » Mon Apr 07, 2014 8:07 am

Hi, I downloaded the code for 182 and I got a file in .tgz format. Try as I might I can not unpack this file. Any suggestions?

Cheers

That should be a gzipped tar file.
Modern tar implementations can unpack this in one go (something like tar -gzf ) or you can do it as 2 stages - gunzip it first and then tar the result.

What did you try?

That's because the file you get is not a tarball, but an HTML error message. Something is wrong with the server setup.

Apologies for not posting my attempts although I think nelz may be on the money:

[tim@beiderbeck Downloads]$ tar -gzf LXF182.code.tgz
tar: You must specify one of the `-Acdtrux' or `--test-label' options
Try `tar --help' or `tar --usage' for more information.
[tim@beiderbeck Downloads]$ gunzip LXF182.code.tgz

gzip: LXF182.code.tgz: not in gzip format
[tim@beiderbeck Downloads]$ tar -xvf LXF182.code.tgz
tar: This does not look like a tar archive

gzip: stdin: not in gzip format
tar: Child returned status 1
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
[tim@beiderbeck Downloads]$

Well, your tar syntax is wrong, it should be
Code: Select all
tar xf LXF182.code.tgz
but that won't work for the aforementioned reason.

Code: Select all
file LXF182.code.tgz
tells the real story.

problems go back to 180; 179 is the last valid TGZ I could download.

180 - file consists of HTML string:

<br />
<b>Warning</b>: readfile(/var/www/files/pdfs/LXF180.code.tgz) [<a href='function.readfile'>function.readfile</a>]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in <b>/usr/share/drupal5/includes/download.php</b> on line <b>71</b><br />

181 - seems to download for ever: killed it at ~60MB

182 - like 180
183 - like 180

Really surprised this hasn't been fixed in 4 months. Does anyone responsible for this stuff ever check the forum?

We haven't be able to replicate the problem, but we're checking the Drupal setup now to see if this is the cause. Thanks!

Files are going to the right place, but Drupal is spitting out an error when supplying them. Possibly a permissions problem. Again, we're checking.

Okay, permission issue it was. You should be able to download the source files without a problem. All credit to Jonni B.

Hey there. Thanks.

I Tried 180 to 185 and only 181 still gives me problems.... unless it really is over 250 MB in size, because that's where I killed the download assuming it had gone wrong. (using Firefox)

(Perhaps you can include the sizes in the download page?)

PS. I just tried a 2nd time and it gave a failed message after a few seconds .....

Er, would you believe the source code is 306MB for 181... Sorry.
