Launch Mint Update Manager from command line

Postby heiowge » Wed Jan 08, 2014 4:11 pm

Any idea how I can launch Mint's Update Manager from CLI?

I know about apt-get update etc. I don't want to perform an update. My machine is up to date. I just want to launch the MDM. Mint's own sites don't seem to want to say how. They keep recommending apt-get instead.

Problem is that apt-get says my machine is up to date. The update icon says otherwise. It refuses to refresh even after a reboot and refuses to launch from the icon or GUI. :?

I've noticed the same thing happens every now and then on my machine too. I see from your sig we are running the same version.
I always trust the CLI more than the GUI. Don't know why. I just do.
I haven't been that bothered by it as I intend to upgrade to the next LTS as soon as its released.

Can you purge and reinstall mint update? I guess you could.
So it looks like I'm back to LinuxMint again. Why you ask? Because my machine smell nicer.

I'm not too sure I'd want a Mint and Cinnamon muffin with my brew though. Guess I'm lucky they don't run my local bakery.

I just updated to Mint 16 and it's fixed.

Still... I'd like to know how to launch it for future reference... :?

Thanks. It works now. It didn't before. I assumed because it didn't work, the commands were wrong.

Now I know it was just knackered.
