Why are we fighting? What will we win?

Let's just co-exist and do what we can to spread the word about Windows and Mac not being the only OSs out there and available.

Linux is not for everybody, and until OEMs start offering it as a preinstalled option on new machines, and just as importantly, users realise that it is not just another version of Windows that they can use to run their currently owned applications, it never will be for everybody.

Give most users a new machine with no OS installed, but a DVD or USB with an install image of Windows, Mac or a Linux distro, and I suspect Linux might start to look a bit easier than the alternatives. I recall the last time I installed Windows on a laptop it took a very, very long time to get it to a point where it could be used for anything, certainly more than a day; my last Xubuntu 12.04 install took 20 minutes to a very usable desktop.
Xubuntu 12.04 user, and loving it!

What?
Team up with MacroShaft!!??
Against Grapple and Obstacle!!??

UNIX and Linux are now powerful enough to stand alone...

Let's face it even Grapple uses BSD...
Obstacle has Solaris and Linux flavours...

So why fight our distant cousins?

Well, I have no particular grudge, but what I have got is a small pimple on the inside of my left thriple. Some say it is due to running the tap to long in the bath and others say I should take it for a walk into a fogbank. Others recommend the scrapings from the instep of a trawler skippers seaboot, but common sense tells me it needs nothing of the sort.
Many years ago my sister, the one who has laughing, knitted herself a wicker grandad using only three scains and a pair of No. 27B brankers.
So bearing all this in mind I can only wish you all you wish yourself and others who do not wish you any thing apart from Christmas Pudding and the young fellow across who has just put on his wellies to hide the hole in his sock.
Oh, sod it.
