My daughter (zoe) has an old laptop that she's not using. It's using Mint 11 and my son's desktop has packed up.
Rather than deleting her user and messing about setting up permissions or doing a reinstall, I renamed her user (zoe) to the new username (sam).
Problem is, it's still all called zoe's home and so on. Is there an easy way to change it all without losing the new wallpaper, icons etc? _________________ AMD PHENOM II X6, 14 GB DDR3, 500 GB hd, 1GB nVidia card, running Linux Mint 14 KDE / Win 7. Damn thing keeps breaking.

What did you rename? changing the name and path in /etc/passwd and renaming the home directory should be enough. _________________ "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." (Albert Einstein) |

Wouldn't the easy option have been to create an account for Sam to customise himself. _________________

I tried that. The options weren't identical... _________________ AMD PHENOM II X6, 14 GB DDR3, 500 GB hd, 1GB nVidia card, running Linux Mint 14 KDE / Win 7. Damn thing keeps breaking.
