|
|
Right, this is getting annoying now... I've been using dvd-rip for a while and for most of the time it worked. However, since a few months it fails, even on previously successful conversions. Actually, it's not dvd-rip that fails, but one of it's underlying tools. To get you started, here's a sample:
the .rip file
installed tools
the error log
(all are text files!)
I have had the command given in the error log running manually in a terminal, but the error message remains: invalid pointer. Any ideas where to look for? Or better yet, how to solve the issue?

Not sure how to solve your problem exactly. I use Acidrip and have no problems. Maybe a change of software might help... _________________ AMD PHENOM II X6, 14 GB DDR3, 500 GB hd, 1GB nVidia card, running Linux Mint 14 KDE / Win 7. Damn thing keeps breaking.

If looks like a problems with transcode and ffmpeg, have you updated either of these lately? ffmpeg in particular has a history of API changes between releases, if you have updated it, try rolling back to a previous version. similarly, if you have switched from ffmpeg to libav, try going back to ffmpeg (libav is a fork of ffmpeg). _________________ Unix is user-friendly. I'm using Debian Stable, so updates shouldn't break anything... I'll see if I can find older versions of key libs to solve the issue. Tnx Nelz!
@heiowge: thx too, I'll see if I can find it in the Debian repo's |

I think I've found the problem in the log file
| Code: |
Job 'Transcode video - title #1, pass 1' failed with error message:
Command exits with failure code:
Command: mkdir -m 0775 -p '/media/videodrive/dvdrip-data/Madonna_Confessions_tour/tmp' &&

Terrible taste in pop music
Nelz mentioned the ffmpeg issue, wouldn't be surprised if this is the cause.
Perhaps try some other software, download handbrake, or a binary of mencoder that doesn't link. See if the same problem occurs. If only to rule out a hardware issue. _________________ I think, therefore I compile |

I doubt it's hardware, tried handbrake but that doesn't do what I want (or I'm doing something wrong... ) and as for taste: this was just a sample I had at hand, I tried many more, like Pink Floyd, Mike Oldfield and Michael Flatley. |

Reminds me of a Smith and Jones sketch where they pull a driver over and go through his collection of cassette tapes.
"ooh sarge, we got a right one here.....Marillion!
