| I am trying to install Linux as a virtual computer and the magazine is teling me to create a share file. I am using Windows 7 as OS and the instructions are not the same as in the magazine. I am not a computer guru but I can follows directions. The magazine is a few years old. |

Not sure if this is relevant, but Virtualbox is a good place to start. Plenty of info on its site.

If the Magazine is a few years old, it is probably hopelessly out of date.
Things change quickly in the computer world, and more so in Linux.
I would suggest Wubi
