I normally let the OS check it every 30 reboots or so... or if I need to check a disk manually I use GParted or Disk Utility found in the 'System > Administration' section of Ubuntu 10.04.

lubuntu LXDE 13.10 running on AMD Phenom II*4; ASUS Crosshair III Formula MB; 4 GB Ram.....
