Found elsewhere, looks promising:

Only prototypes for now, but if this makes it into serious production run figures it'll be great news for Linux. You can't install M$ on it, it has an ARM proc |

Why not? Windows CE runs on ARM
David Braben is one of the coolest people ever, but I still wish he'd focus on Elite IV. Or just a modern, networked version of Frontier.

I think they would be great for digital signage. Now all I need is an os which is literally just a web browser in full screen mode to run on it
oh and for it to be networkable _________________ For certain you have to be lost to find the places that can't be found. Elseways, everyone would know where it was |

Hi all...
"""
We plan to develop, manufacture and distribute an ultra-low-cost computer,
for use in teaching computer programming to children. We expect this
computer to have many other applications both in the developed and the
developing world.
"""
I saw this a day or so ago on another ML...
It serves two of my requirements that I consider in everything I do...
1) Aimed at kids in some way.
2) Effectively a development board that is fully hackable...
I will probably get one if only for the word in the first paragraph - FUN. :) _________________ 73...

Since hearing the Raspbery Pi mentioned on the tuxradar podcast last month my interest has definitely been piqued.
The Raspberry Pi group recently announced on their website ( www.raspberrypi.org ) that they recently went into mass production and the first one's will be avaliable at the end of January.
Yippee at $25 to $35 a pop I can finally have that server farm I've always wanted. |

Anyone manage to get one?
I might have been too late. The sites had a pre-order option, but I wasn't sure if that means they haven't got the first batch from the factory yet.
I've registered my interest on one of the sites at least. I also noticed there was 5 quid price difference on the sites -- weird. _________________ I codes here: http://notsure.tk |

I'd say my thoughts exactly, except I had to google "caveat emptor". _________________ AMD PHENOM II X6, 14 GB DDR3, 500 GB hd, 1GB nVidia card, running Linux Mint 14 KDE / Win 7. Damn thing keeps breaking.

I heard Farnell had sold out, but I don't know how as both their server and RS's were timing out right from the 6am launch. Farnell's later had a notice saying the site was down for "routine maintenance" while RS only let you register an interest.
It was even the top trending topic on twitter in the UK, but that was purely down to people complaining about the broken sites. _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |
