At the end of the day while there are good geeks in enterprise there will be Linux, its come too far to really stop now. Even if a freak accident killed all the kernel developers a new lot would rise from the ashes.

The thing I really don't get is why didn't they pull out of this before it got to this stage. Its not a matter of if they loose or if they go bankrupt, its when..

The latest stuff on Groklaw would suggest that far from Linux nicking SCO's Unix code, actually SCO nicked GPL Linux Code! According to a deposition from a former SCO employee!

The plot thickens ...

My non-mysterious but highly placed SCO source says that the company interprets the agreement with Novell on licence fees that it extends only to existing licencees. So 95 per cent of any dosh from IBM's AIX contract would go to Novell, but the Sun and Microsoft licences are new business and are not covered.

Someone - probably not me - ought to look through the asset purchase agreement (APA) before the celebrations begin.

It's funny. I got a quartet of press releases from SCO this morning, all telling how great OpenServer 6 is and one saying how rubbish Linux is. This is the usual thing you would expect, but in the light of these developments it looks a little different.
I'm just awaiting a response from SCOs PR. I'll keep you posted. Interesting times...

Incidentally, I have watched all the episodes of Futurama there are and so far I have not been able to discern the metallic equine to which Bender refers.
