I tried to get on the mambo demos, but they must be good, as I just waited and waited and waited.....I think that what schools want is somthing where they can allocate teachers sections, (which we can do on PHPNuke) in which they can copy and paste or type english (which we xan't do in PHPNuke, unless there is an addon anyone knows of?) I haven't honestly had a look yet, but hope to at some point!!

Good on you, we are planning a new hosting plan which has mambo installed by deafult with maybe a forum such as SMF integrated. Something for my new super sql server design to cut its teeth into

Have you had a look at phpWebSite? - http://phpwebsite.appstate.edu/

It's another content management system but this was designed with education in mind, although there are a few businesses using it as well. It is very modular in design and it even has a module for module design!

Thanks, just what we wanted, I'll have to download it, I was meant to this week but was working on the Fat Linux Client for work/school, so between doing my OU CS Degree, Karoshi, and many other things this weekend I will have a go with mambo too

'tis a bit like a cross between using a wordprocessor and a forum like this one, but with a click of a button you can switch to an html view to edit with. And it works in firefox, it is very impressive.

linuxgirlie: You might want to have a look at www.websitebaker.org for a nice easy CMS for the school (I use it for ours) - not as big as Mambo but it has a very simple "page-based" feel to it and easy to update (no HTML needed).

lixuxgirlie, really when you've caught your breath have a look at, http://www.mamboserver.com and go through the demonstation, very impressive and the embedded editors automatically format the items into html code. The administration is pretty straightforward too. Its all very elegant, highly reccomended.

Quick question, when you say submit a bit of news or an item do you have to use html? Thats one of the reasons to be rid of phpnuke, its ok for me to write a entry with all the html tags, but not for a teacher...
