Opto-couplers? I use relays, much easier to understand... ;o)

Just think of the possibilites of using Selcall techniques from SSB
gear in the HF bands.

Long range, (worldwide on some bands), no third party infrastructure
to rely on, unlimited number of codes in theory; only 7 tones required
for your 2^20 multiplexed system, (that is 10^7 different codes ;oO ).

Ooooh what fun... ;oD

Oh yes he does! He could accurately control a servo that pushes the reset button on one

Anyway, even w/o all that analog stuff, with a set of opto-couplers he can remotely reset/halt/power-up up to 20 servers directly and 2^20 (=1,048,576) if he uses indirect addressing (a demux Matrix )

Somehow I think that figure is enough for everyone (on a server-farm )

Not sure of the possibility of getting a 20 bit high speed DAC
from that, perhaps you could enlighten me.

DMs pointer would be possible as it is more of a dev board than
the Viglen and I think that is what DM was hinting at.

Something like a Viglen MPC-L, which go for around �80? I use one of those for various monitoring tasks.

It's still expensive. The area I was thinking was backroom uses such as to sit with servers for remote access etc. I'd want it to be more like �50-60 for what it is.
