Do such things exist or do I have to get a new fancy smart phone?

Basically I have a palm tungsten e2 which i have had for a number of years, but the touchscreen has gone to pot, and trying to click on anything is very much hit and miss (more the miss)

So I'm looking for a new device that

Has a realllllly good calendar
Possilbly go on the internets (via wifi) and check my email

so all i need is an electronic diary really. The calendar on my palm is great and has a great layout.
if it was compatible with my ubuntu then that would be great.

I already have a phone and i would want to use the sim card from that rather than get tied into a contract for which i will have no use (i don't send a billion txts a day and make 25hrs of phone calls a day, and to be honest the main use for my phone at the moment is as an alarm clock ), which does let me on the internets, but isn't on a contract or anything so I wouldn't want to go in the internet lots using it.
